'IT LURKS BENEATH' Child of Hate and Fear The Creature would screech all day If it had its way. It's wild and bitter; It sneers at your Compassion; It pisses on Love. Don't look at its face Lest you want Obscenity Burned into your mind. Growing up, it fed On Envy, and Guilt, and Shame; Generous portions. Its blood is Venom. Its dialect is Disgust. Its touch? Pure poison. It mocks you with glee With its brutal, blood-red eyes; Its sneers violate. When no-one's looking It shits right in front of you. The smell, it lingers. Just don't let it speak. It whispers: "Why not end it?" So subtly toxic. It's famously cruel: It will set fire to your dreams And burn down your house. I'm its long-time slave: It resides under the bed. Its name? Self-Loathing.
Self-loathing is, indeed, a creature not to be messed with! *shudder*
We need to beat it away with a stick! (Easier said than done)
Another beautifully-written piece!

Haha, quite right! Perhaps we need to use a mental pitchfork? [My grandmother would use a trident.] Acknowledging the creature’s existence robs it of a lot of power, I feel.
And thank you, Amanda; I’ve managed to squeeze some more mojo into my glass today. π

Cheers to that! *raises tea cup* <~ it's a weekday, isn't it? π

Amen! *also raises tea cup* I hope there’s plenty of sugar in it… π

A spoonful of sugar makes the *stops*… I have a terrible singing voice. I’m so sorry. Is five sugars enough?

Haha… sadly too late to stop the song from running thru my head all night. π
Only five? It’ll do, I suppose. Sugar helps with the lucid dreaming, don’tcha know. π

As does sleeping on ones arm, so I hear! π
10 sugars it is!

Hehe, sounds like you have an excellent lucid dream mentor. π
Haha, 10 sugars works for me… white gold. π

Oooo sounds super posh!
And, why yes! One does have a rather excellent lucid dream mentor. I’d highly recommend him! π

Haha, well at big shop the girl at the check-out is sadly never impressed when I start to wax lyrical about the charms of the pack of sweet, sweet sugar that I’m buying. She’s heard it all before… π¦
Haha good to hear: that chap could make a bit of money at the mentoring in the future. π

That is true. I’ll see if he’ll be interested in taking a new career path! He’ll soon be loaded, I am sure! He could buy all the sweet sugar he could ever wish for!

Haha, it’s a suitably offbeat career… LDG? (Lucid Dream Guru.)
And yes; the kaftan shop and the sugar shop will never go out of business….

Haha! I’m sure the ladies will dig it, too. There’s nothing like a man in kaftan! π

Haha — maybe a bandana, too? Good to complete the look… and yes, mainly for the ladies. π

Yes! A bandana is a must! Tie-dye! The ladies will be flocking!

Tie-dye? Yowser. That might look a little out of place at the gentleman’s club? Would look good with a creme de menthe in hand, though. π

It most certainly would! π

Hmm… and now I’m suddenly feeling apprehensive! (Camera-shy, you see.)
Perhaps I could wear my tuxedo under the kaftan? Just in case I’m invited to a soiree… π

it’s a hard one to get out from under. This brings back lots of feelings, some still lingering.

I do hope nothing too grim.

No, more like gatitude. I am thankful that those feelings aren’t an everyday, all day occurance anymore, constantly eating away at me inside. They will pop up, kind of like a pimple…lol. Reading your post today, is a reminder, not so much of bad things but of the good things now. π

Ah, well that’s wonderful to hear … that sense of it being relative is very good. π
To keep these past experiences in mind is very important, I think, for our sense of health, and not to take things for granted.

ok, and since I do know how to spell and yet didn’t proofread that BEFORE I sent it…LOL… let’s make that *gratitude and *occurrence π

Haha, you might be surprised at how many misspellings I don’t even notice(!)

Exactly, and those experiences got me to here. They are a part of me. You are absolutely correct, some people tell me they just want to forget. I never want to forget that deep dark pit of despair, least I fall back into it π and it makes the “now” that much sweeter.

Oh yes… to want to forget is very natural, and very human, but also a step to becoming blasΓ©.
Better to keep just a glimmer of that bad time in mind. π

Wow. Awesome writing. I know this creature well. You describe it perfectly

Thank you again. Part of me didn’t want to describe it, of course[!]
Yep, we all know what it feels like to live with, don’t we? Brrr.

Perhaps it’s cathartic to get that description out of your head and on paper though π

You could well be right. It certainly makes sense. π

It’s pretty much the only reason I write. To get the chaos out of my brain and somewhere solid… it’s almost like a physical brain dump π x

Haha that sounds about right, I think! There’s been a lot of therapeutic benefits for me, since I’ve been doing it. Hope we can both keep going strong! π

Me too. I remember reading about you when ‘Professor Lovely’ first highlighted your blog to me… and I’m glad you’re finding it therapeutic! We’ll get there π

Haha, the Professor certainly did me a kindness (one of many) by highlighting me! Thank you. π
