EGO-ELEPHANT

'MY NAME IS EGO!'

He struts his big stuff
Up and down my nice front room
Elephantine git.

His voice? Thunderous. 
"When I speak, wisdom trembles!"
I do some face-palm. 

All of us have one:
The huge, vile ego-monster.
He has great power.

He turns us into
Smug, insufferable twats.
For a time, at least. 

So, take a deep breath 
And kick him hard in the nuts.
Then out the back door.

When he's gone away
You'll find, deep within, a calm
You'd long forgotten.

Humiliation? 
It brings true humility.
That's its greatest gift.

        But I do appreciate that. You’re most kind. I suppose the thing is, blog-wise I ain’t going anywhere… haha, even if I DO run out of material very soon [!]

      3. I’m sure you will get your just rewards. If you aren’t tempted by the thousands of followers… what about a Babybel? And you won’t run out of material, a mind capable of your work is capable of more work.

      1. Yes, it would make a great read. About vigilance, I agree. We have to have self-worth , yet still keeping in mind how small we actually are in the grand scheme of things 🙂 We are like grains of sand on a beach 😉

        Ah yes, that we are — it’s a sort of dualism, perhaps, how essential yet oddly microscopic (for want of a better word) our individual lives are. A most interesting situation. 😉
