JUDGE NOT? — PART II

'THE WAY THRU THE WOODS' 

Please walk in my shoes. 
Not just a mile, however;
Walk 'til your feet bleed. 

We each hack a path; 
Our own way thru life's forest. 
Fearful, dark, deadly. 

Sword in hand, we fight;
Your demons and foes ain't mine
And mine are not yours.

'Til you've trod my path
And I've done the same with yours? 
Let's withhold judgement.

  1. How very true, and of course, in my view 😉 lol that means there shouldn’t be a judgement. No one will truly ever be able to walk in anyone else’s shoes. Even if they did, each would have a different perspective, outlook, feeling about that path. No two people will ever fell the same about a situation, maybe similar feelings but never identical. So, let’s hold the judgement. 🙂

      4. And of course that different slant doesn’t mean they are wrong or right, it’s perspective. We all see things through our own eyes, is what I always say, and no one can see through your eyes but you.

  6. Brilliant! I’m so glad I read both of these back to back.

    And you’ve motivated me to at least try to write something that hews more closely to poetry. I know better than to try to write in verse, much less rhyme, but I have nearly finished a piece of flash fiction that I hope to share next Wednesday or the one after. Would you mind if I linked back to your blog here? I’m sure there are quite a few others that would benefit from your words.

    1. Thank you… variations on a theme, hence the numbering. Haha I think something touched a nerve with me when looking at the online newspapers yesterday(!)
      Well I’m looking forward to your sharing some of your poetry/fiction, Gabe: whatever you’re comfortable with… and even if you’re not entirely comfortable, it’s all valid. 🙂

  7. Couldn’t agree more! How easy we seem to think it is to judge others after only moments of trying to relate. Your words are harsh but hey, the truth often is. I love it.

    1. Haha, thank you very much! I wouldn’t say I’m particularly harsh by nature, but reading the views of certain loudmouths in the media tends to touch a nerve with me, I think. 😉

      1. I would say there is a big difference between being harsh by nature and our environment forcing us to react harshly from time to time. Being able to hold back to only when it’s needed is tact that not everyone (especially in the media..) possesses.

      2. Yes, that’s a good point — ‘reactively harsh’ as opposed to it being a part of us.
        And you’re right… I always felt there are often a number of different ways to essentially say the same thing: and if we do it with care, some people even listen to us with an open mind. 🙂
