'IMPROVEMENTS' I've felt better since Deactivating Facebook; Less chance to compare. I've felt better since Talking, blogging, confessing; Singing from my soul. I've felt better since Gently saying "No" some more; Less people-pleasing. I've felt better since Shortening my list of chums: Increased quality. I've felt better since Ignoring hate and drama: Serenity wins. Even if I fall Back into the dark waters All will not be lost: I'll think on these times; Remembering improvements Will help me to float.
Love this… keep it simple and serene!! Good Stuff Buffy Devane!!! ♥

Thankyou… it’s all that’s being talked about here right now. Two people I know were in the vicinity: shaken but OK. Brr. I agree with your assessment on the world(!) — but the flip side of that is the good amount of solidarity & warmth from people in the face of such things. 🙂

We went through the acts of terrorism many times here in the USA… My heart is with my country, all countries, and family or entities that has had to endured the pain, fear and suffering…. But united we stand!!! Every person here in america knows exactly where and what they were doing when 9/11 happened and the bombing of the Boston Marathon. It changed our lives for ever…but we won’t cave in to fear… We are strong! I love what your Prime Minster Theresa May said… sorry for rambling Buff xo

Oh gosh, no need to be sorry… not rambling at all, but good words, nicely said. 🙂
“United we stand” is the perfect phrase, I think. 🙂 x

Am I the only person in the free world that has never had facebook? When someone asks me for my facebook page and I say I don’t have one, that I never have, they look at me like there’s something wrong with me. LOL they usually follow up with “you need one, it’s easy to set up.” Really, what do I need one for?

Haha I know a couple of people who’ve not ever had Facebook, and have felt like pariahs(!)
As a rule I’m suspicious of being told that I ‘need’ anything from others… good for you for not having it! Having had and not had it, I’ll say that it was interesting for a time, but didn’t enrich my life.

LOL after I get the *gasp* and that I need it, I always say really why? I get all the usual answers: it’s fun, keep up with friends, family, old classmates, etc… I always listen anxioulsy waiting for the end of “why I need it” and I say… It sounds like just another form of harrassment to me LOL 😉

Oh and now that I have the blog, I get, “how can you have a blog, you don’t even have facebook?” LOL

Haha it is indeed amazing how people spend so much time telling people what they must have: the phrase “form of harassment” is indeed well-applied to Facebook: I’m sure that a fair percentage of users only set up accounts to quieten their friends who tell them they must have it. 😉

I de-activated Facebook for several months before re-activating it for a freelance contract project. I am now never on it only to post my blogs on pages attached to them. I hate the fact that it does tend to make you compare yourself to others that seem so fabulous and perfect. They have a new home, car, baby, partner, etc.
Their lives are just flawless and they always appear to be “humble bragging” about something. They “humble brag” and say things like “Gosh, it sucks that I have a red Porsche…I am always getting speeding tickets. I knew I should have gotten white.”
It’s annoying and now since I don’t check any updates on Facebook, cut out drinking red wine at night and any alcohol for that matter (makes depression way worse), I do feel better. I dig your posts & look forward to reading more! 😊

Ah yes… the humble bragger is one of the worst kinds of show off! No-one is better off for it. I’ll probably go back on one day but if/when I do, I’m going to very strict and only go on with a purpose in mind.
Interesting about how cutting the alcohol made an improvement, too!
Thank you, Sonyo. I’m looking forward to reading more of your posts, too. 🙂

Indeed the humble braggers are the worst. Yeah, red wine wasn’t helping my depression. I’m way better off reading a few hours at night in replacement of the buzz & channel surfing. 😋
I also have been on a major cardio kick & that has helped with the depression too. I’ve battled major depression most of my life & with a combo of not checking Fb, exercising, taking meds, no alcohol…I’m feeling way better. 😊
Have a good day & great connecting with like-minds!

Wow, it sounds like you’ve really identified the things that were making your depression worse, and then taking steps to combat that. Inspiring!
Thank you: have a real good day yourself — and yes, I think connection’s what it’s all about!

Oh doesn’t it feel good to sing from your soul! (I should be in bed already, I know!) …but had to stop by and read your daily post. Another great piece!
Facebook free is the way to go! (I left two and half years ago!) never looked back!

Oh, too kind, Proper Amanda… I’m glad you stopped by. 😉
I’m inspired by your Facebook-free! Wow. I’m 4 months in and have only had the pangs to return twice. Long may FB-Free continue for us both! 😉

I have a lot of friends that I can only keep track of through FB but I visit infrequently and am selective with what I read. That’s a luxury I know, because some people it just winds up. Not unlike the News. Now that I do struggle to watch! Glad you’re staying afloat, Buffy 🙂

I think you use Facebook in just the right way! I’m hoping that I can do likewise soon… haha, yes, I really have to be in a good mood before I put on any News channel. 😉 Thank you again, Jo… onwards and upwards. 🙂

For me the best improvement, is that you deactivated your Facebook account. Blogging is way better than social media, as you’ve mentioned ‘singing from my soul. That’s what exactly blogging does.

Absolutely… it’s a world away from social media, and in the best way. 🙂 Thank you.

Thankyou Gabe: I know a couple of people who were near: shaken but unbowed, I think!
Haha I’ll see what I can do… looking forward to your next post (and posts), too. 🙂
